LIGHT CARRIES ON Is A Supernatural Punk Rock Romance Graphic Novel Coming Next Year
Dark Horse Books is releasing the latest graphic novel from Ray Nadine, Light Carries On. This grayscale and spot color graphic novel will tell the story of Leon and Cody. Leon is a struggling photographer dealing with a recent breakup with his boyfriend and recovering from his time spent in the military. When his camera breaks, he borrows one from his mom’s antique store only to unwittingly release the ghost of Cody, a queer punk rocker who doesn’t know how he died decades ago. The two investigate what could have happened to Cody in an attempt to end his haunting of the camera. You’ll go on a journey through modern and past Chicago as the two realize they have more in common than they initially thought.
In the words of Nadine:
“Light Carries On is my open love letter to the city of Chicago, to the thought that we’re not alone in our struggles, and to being unapologetically queer. All of my stories are that last bit, unapologetically queer, but Light Carries On carries what my first comic didn’t: a light of hope at the end. I hope that those who read it find that light, as creating it helped me do the same!”
I like the grayscale and spot color style of the art and I think it will lend itself well to this story. You can find Light Carries On in hardcover for $19.99 at comic stores March 15, 2023 and in bookstores March 28, 2023. It is available for preorder now on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, your local comic shop, and your local bookstore.
