Lily James Joins Chris Hemsworth in Amazon MGM's Submarine Thriller SUBVERSION
Lily James is diving into action alongside Chris Hemsworth in Subversion, the upcoming submarine-set thriller from Amazon MGM Studios.
Directed by 7500 filmmaker Patrick Vollrath and written by Andrew Ferguson, Subversion centers on a disgraced naval commander (Hemsworth) forced by a cartel-like syndicate to pilot a submarine packed with illegal cargo across international waters.
The mission turns into a tense game of survival when a determined Coast Guard officer (played by James) closes in, triggering a high-stakes pursuit filled with threats above and below the surface.
The film is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, with Stephen Shafer and Greg Cohen serving as executive producers for di Bonaventura Pictures.
James was nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of Pamela Anderson in Pam & Tommy, and she has been carving out a path as both a leading actress and a producer. Her next project, Swiped, is inspired by Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd and will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. James also produced the film through her company, Parodos Pictures.
She’ll be seen next in Relay, a critically praised thriller from director David Mackenzie co-starring Riz Ahmed.
Currently filming the psychological drama Harmonia with director Guy Nattiv, James is also lined up for Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo with Takashi Miike and the upcoming Cliffhanger reboot, which she also produced.
Subversion marks a high-octane addition to both James' and Hemsworth’s growing list of genre films and promises a tense, character-driven ride beneath the ocean.
