Lin-Manuel Miranda Teams Up With Sony For Animated Musical Called VIVO

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is hot off his recent success with Disney's Moana. He's working on several projects with Disney at the moment including The Return of Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, and a secret untitled animation project.

Miranda is now teaming up with Sony Animation to develop an animated musical called Vivo. Sony doesn't really do musicals, but they are obviously looking to cash in on what makes Disney successful and also bring in the guy who is currently helping them with that.

The story follows "a monkey who loves music and adventure, leading him to make a dangerous journey from Havana to Miami to fulfill his destiny."

Miranda has become a pretty busy guy, but this is a project that it seems like he could have fun with. He will write several songs for the movie, which is being scripted by playwright and Previous Miranda collaborator Quiara Alegría Hudes. The film will be directed by Kirk De Micco, who previously directed The Croods.
