Linda Cardellini Reportedly in Talks to Star in A24’s CRYSTAL LAKE Series for Peacock

A24 and Peacock are resurrecting the Friday The 13th franchise with a new series, and they might have found the perfect actress to bring Pamela Voorhees back to life.

According to The Insneider’s Jeff Sneider, Linda Cardellini (No Good Deed, Dead to Me) is in talks to take on the role of Jason’s infamous mother in Crystal Lake, an upcoming prequel series that will expand on the long running horror franchise.

The show, which was given a straight-to-series order back in 2022, has had an interesting road to production. Originally spearheaded by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal), the project has since undergone a shift in creative leadership, with Brad Caleb Kane (Welcome to Derry) stepping in as showrunner.

Kane is a longtime fan of the franchise, and he’s made it clear he’s fully committed to honoring its legacy. He said:

“From the moment I watched Jason Voorhees squeeze a guy’s eyeball out of its socket (in glorious 3D!) at the tender age of 8 years old, I knew my creative path was someday destined to converge with The Man Behind The Mask.”

He continued: “Nothing defined my childhood more than growing up in the golden age of the slasher flick, and nothing’s defined the genre more than Friday the 13th. I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to contribute a chapter to this iconic franchise, particularly with such fearless partners as Peacock and A24.”

The series is being described as an “expanded prequel” to the original Friday the 13th films, exploring both Jason and Pamela Voorhees’ history.

If Cardellini officially signs on, she’ll be taking on the role made iconic by Betsy Palmer in the 1980 classic, a character whose tragic past and vengeful rampage set the entire franchise in motion.
