Lionsgate Is Developing a TWILIGHT Animated Series and a New JOHN WICK Series

Lionsgate is looking to expand on the Twilight franchise, and they’ve announced that they’re developing an animated series adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s vampire book series.

The project was revealed by Michael Burns, vice chairman of Lionsgate, during a Q&A at the Morgan Stanley media conference. He said: “We’re going to go out with the Twilight series, an animated series, I think there’ll be a lot of interest in that.”

It was previously reported that a series was being developed, and at the time, we just assumed it would be a live-action project. But, that’s not the direction that they’re going.

I could honestly care less about the direction that this franchise goes. For me, my feeling is the less Twilight the better. But, I’m sure the fans have all kinds of opinions on the future plans of the franchise.

There are four novels in the series including Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Meyer also released the book Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, which gender-swapped the two main characters, Bella and Edward. Meyer later released Midnight Sun, which told the story of the first book from Edward’s perspective rather than Bella’s. The film franchise consisted of five films that drove fans crazy!

In more exciting news, Burns also revealed that they are expanding the John Wick franchise with a new series, saying, “I think we’ll take one of our great action franchises starring Keanu Reeves, I think it’ll be a television series.”

There’s no other information that was shared about the John Wick series, but franchise director Chad Stahelski is a part of the franchise’s creative team and will be involved with all of the John Wick projects that are made and he previously teased spinoffs that he’d like to explore. The filmmaker specifically mentioned wanting to explore Laurence Fishburne’s Bowery King and Halle Berry’s Sofia Al-Azwar.
