Lionsgate is Looking To Reboot The LEPRECHAUN Horror Franchise
The long-running Leprechaun horror movie franchise is going to be rebooted yet again. According to Bloody-Disgusting, Lionsgate is “actively seeking out pitches for the next Leprechaun movie.” So, we can expect to see that creepy and mischievous Leprechaun terrorizing people again in the near future.
The only Leprechaun movie that I recall watching is the first one. If I ever saw any of the sequels, I have no memory of it and I’m not going to be watching any of them anytime soon. That being said, I don’t really care if the franchise is being rebooted or not. The franchise has a fan base, though, and this news is sure to get them excited.
The report goes on to point out that director Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV, Repo: The Genetic Opera, Spiral: From the Book of Saw) has been publicly asking Lionsgate to let him helm a new installment in the horror-comedy Leprechaun franchise.
When talking about his plans for what his film would be, Bousman explained: “I would make a more direct sequel to the Leprechaun franchise. I would not reboot it. I don’t want to do that. I would demand that Warwick Davis come back. I wouldn’t do it without him. I would not try to change the tone. I would make it equally as batshit, bonkers crazy. It would be between the first film and Back 2 tha Hood. It would be somewhere in that tonal frame. It got really ridiculous as they went on, but that ridiculousness is what made them fun.”
That right there is the only new Leprechaun movie I would have any interest in watching. What do you all think?
