Lionsgate Picks Up the Rights to Horror Thriller Feature THE HOME Starring Pete Davidson

After a screening for buyers outside of competition at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, Lionsgate has picked up the rights to the horror thriller feature film The Home, starring Pete Davidson. The movie is directed by James DeMonaco (The Purge) from a script he co-wrote with Adam Cantor.

The Home follows Davidson as Max, a former foster child who begins working at a retirement home only to discover that its residents and caretakers harbor sinister secrets.

Charlotte Koh, Lionsgate’s executive VP of acquisitions and co-productions, said of the film, “We went into ‘The Home’ not knowing what to expect and James and Pete delivered an exhilarating ride of a movie that is pure suspense-filled fun and just plain bonkers. Audiences won’t know what hit them.”

Thom Zadra, executive VP of Miramax, added, “James and Pete have created an instant horror classic, and we are thrilled to have found the perfect partner in Lionsgate to bring the film to US audiences.”

Davidson returns to Saturday Night Live this weekend to host the show’s first episode since the end of the WGA strike. He recently starred in Sony’s Dumb Money, a comedy about the stranger-than-fiction GameStop stock frenzy from January 2021.

The Home hits theatres sometime in 2024.
