Lionsgate Wants More TWILIGHT and HUNGER GAMES Films Because Creativity is Dead
Lionsgate made a lot of money off the Twilight and Hunger Games film franchises, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that the studio wants to keep the franchises alive by making more films. The news comes from Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer who says the studio isn't ready to say goodbye to these franchises. He said:
"There are a lot more stories to be told, and we’re ready to tell them when our creators are ready to tell those stories."
According to Variety, he also implied that the studio will only go forward with "fresh installments or spin-offs" in the franchises if they get approval from Twilight author Stephenie Meyer and Hunger Games creator Suzanne Collins.
So as of right now, nothing is set in stone. The studio just hopes that the creators sign off on them so that they can start making more money off these franchises again. They've clearly run out of ideas and aren't interested in looking for new material or creating new ideas.
Personally, I would be fine if I never saw another Twilight or Hunger Games movie again. I'm sure the hardcore fans would want to kick me in the face for saying such things, but I never cared for the Twilight series in the first place. As for The Hunger Games films, they told a full and complete story with some great characters, but I just don't need to revisit that world again.
What do you think? Would you be up for some new Twilight and Hunger Games movies?
