List of GOLDEN GLOBE Winners and Watch Some Video Highlights, Including Ricky Gervais’s Hilariously Harsh Monologue
One of the best things about the Golden Globes award ceremony last night was how host Ricky Gervais just didn’t give a shit. His opening monologue was hilariously scathing as he called Hollywood out on how ridiculous it all is.
My other favorite part of the ceremony was Tom Hanks’s acceptance speech when he received the Cecil B. DeMille Award. That guy has so much class, and he is easily one of my favorite actors of all time. It was nice to see him win the award and accept it with humility and heart. The guy is a class act.
As for the winners, I’m ultimately happy with how things turned out. I was happy to see 1917 win Best Motion Picture Drama and Sam Mendes win Best Director. I was also happy to see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood win Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, Brad Pitt win Best Supporting Actor, and Quentin Tarantino win Best Screenplay. Joaquin Phoenix winning Best Actor wasn’t surprising, but what was a surprise was Renee Zellweger winning Best Actress for her role in Judy. I didn’t see that coming, and I don’t think anyone else did either. It was also great to see Parasite get a big win as well!
Below you will find a full list of nominees and winners. I also included several video highlights for you to watch in case you missed the ceremony last night. What did you think about the Golden Globe awards?!
