Listen to J.J. Abrams' Commentary During THE FORCE AWAKENS' Heartbreaking Scene Between Kylo Ren and Han Solo
Disney and Lucasfilm are pushing the upcoming home video release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens 3D collector's edition, so they've released a deleted scene of Chewbacca encountering Simon Pegg's Unkar Plutt in Maz Kanata's bar, and now they've unveiled a bit of writer/director J.J. Abrams' commentary during the pivotal scene between the villainous Kylo Ren and his father, Han Solo.
A lot of fans have wondered if Kylo was just screwing with Han out there on the bridge, assuming that he knew he was going to kill him the entire time, but in this clip (via USA Today), Abrams says that in his opinion, that's not the case:
The important thing, of course, is that once Abrams made the movie and released it out into the world, interpretations of what it means are up to us. You can choose to give him the last word on this subject as the author of the material, but I think if you have a different read on that scene and can support it with evidence from the text of the movie itself, that's just as valid.
