Liv Tyler Is Set to Star in Fox's Spin-Off Series 9-1-1: LONE STAR

The Fox series 9-1-1 is such a fun show! It occasionally ventures into cheesy, and it taps into every single horrific storyline and natural disaster that could ever occur in Los Angeles and pours it all into this one series, but I love it. The cast is so good and likable, and the writing really does keep you engrossed. So I’m pretty excited that they are branching off and taking that formula into another show for Fox.

This one will be called 9-1-1: Lone Star, and already has the beginnings of an incredible cast. Rob Lowe (St. Elmo’s Fire, The West Wing, Parks and Rec) was the first to sign on, and I would watch him in absolutely anything, and now we have word that Liv Tyler (The Lord of the Rings, The Leftovers, Ad Astra) has joined the cast, and I think she’s a fantastic actress and addition.

Here’s the description Deadline reported for the series, as well as Tyler’s new character:

Set in Austin, it follows sophisticated New York firefighter Owen (Lowe) who, along with his son, relocates to Austin and must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in his own life.

Tyler will play Chief Paramedic Michelle Blake, who’s a little rock-n-roll, sometimes a bad girl, but always boss. Equal parts compassionate and ruthless, Michelle is brilliant and wry, and the only one who can match wits with Owen in the station… where she will often put him in his place. While always on point at work, Michelle has a obsession she struggles to control: finding out what happened to her little sister Iris, who disappeared two years ago. She’ll stop at nothing to discover the truth, even if it means burning her own life down.

I am stoked for the return of the series 9-1-1, that’s coming back for its third season on September 23rd, as well as the new series, 9-1-1: Lone Star, which is set to premiere on January 19, 2020 following the NFC Championship Game, and then will continue on Monday nights, in the original 9-1-1 slot while the series is in its mid-season hiatus. Are you excited for this spin-off?
