Live-Action NARUTO Movie Coming From The Director of SHANG-CHI Destin Daniel Cretton

One of the most popular mangas of all time, Naruto, is getting a feature film adaptation, and the movie will be written and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who co-wrote and directed the Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This must be one of the reasons why he dropped out of directing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Naruto is set up at Lionsgate and you can bet they want to turn this thing into a massive franchise. Cretton will produce the film alongside Jeyun Munford, Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Emmy Yu of Arad Productions (Borderlands), and Jeremy Latcham (Dungeons & Dragons).

Naruto was created by Masashi Kishimoto, it’s a captivating story set in a world where ninjas wield extraordinary powers. At its heart is Naruto Uzumaki, a spirited and determined young ninja ostracized by his village due to the presence of a malevolent fox spirit within him. Determined to prove his worth and fulfill his dream of becoming the strongest ninja, Naruto embarks on a journey of self-discovery, friendship, and redemption. Along the way, he forms bonds with fellow ninjas like Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, facing formidable adversaries, uncovering dark secrets, and ultimately striving to bring peace to the ninja world.

This is a story that’s filled with action-packed battles and heartfelt moments. It’s a timeless epic and if done right, this live-action movie could be incredible! Hopefully, Cretton can pull it off!

Kishimoto gave Cretton his blessing and shared the following statement: “When I heard of Destin’s attachment, it happened to be right after watching a blockbuster action film of his, and I thought he would be the perfect director for Naruto. After enjoying his other films and understanding that his forte is in creating solid dramas about people, I became convinced that there is no other director for Naturo. In actually meeting Destin, I also found him to be an open-minded director who was willing to embrace my input, and felt strongly that we would be able to cooperate together in the production process.”

So there you have it! We might actually end up getting a proper Naruto movie!

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson said: “This manga classic is beloved by millions of fans all around the world, and Destin has delivered a vision for the movie that we believe will excite that massive fan base as well as those who are new to it. Avi and I have had the pleasure of working together before and I know that as we collaborate with Destin and the team on Naruto, we are in extraordinary hands.”

Do you think Cretton will be able to launch the first awesome live-action film for the Naruto franchise?
