Live Action R-Rated TEENAGE MUTANT TURTLES: THE LAST RONIN Film Adaptation in Development!
Paramount Pictures has announced that they are developing an R-rated live action adaptation of the hit comic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin!
This is honestly something that never thought Paramount would do, and I’m so freakin’ excited that this is actually happening! This is such a badass story and to see it brought to lif on the big screen in live action is amazing!
Tyler Burton Smith, who co-wrote the upcoming R-rated action movie Boy Kills World as well as the 2019 iteration of Chucky horror franchise Child’s Play, is writing the script.
Former head of DC Films, Walter Hamada, is producing through his 18hz production company as part of his multi-year deal with the studio.
The Last Ronin is set in a totalitarian future New York City, the story is told of how the Turtles and Master Splinter are killed off one by one by the grandson of the villainous Shredder and synthetic ninjas. One Turtle manages to survive, barely, and vows to exact bloody vengeance.
The first part of the story didn’t make it clear which one of the Turtles lived as the survivor had the weapons of all four. Just in case you’ve never read the comic, I’m not going to spoil for you who that is. The IDW comic was a massive hit, though!
Co-TMNT creator Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz wrote the comic based on an older story by Eastman and co-creator Peter Laird.
IDW recently released the sequel TMNT: The Last Ronin II – Re-Evolution, with the debut issue touted as being one of the biggest comics of the year with more than 140,000 copies ordered.
I’m so damn excited about this! What do you think? Who would you like to see come on board to direct the movie?
