Lizzo Is the Latest Reveal For The Cast of Jennifer Lopez's Stripper Heist Film HUSTLERS
The stripper heist film Hustlers is getting a more interesting cast with each announcement I feel. Lizzo is the latest to join the cast that already contains Cardi B, Madeline Brewer, Jennifer Lopez, Trace Lysette, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Mercedes Ruehl, Julia Stiles, Mette Towley, and Constance Wu.
“[Hustlers] is inspired by a 2016 New York Magazine article by Jessica Pressler and follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients.”
Jessica Pressler adapted the article for the script and Lorene Scafaria is directing Hustlers. The film will take place in the late aughts (2000s) when the US was dealing with a big financial crisis. The director previously said this about the film:
“The film is an empathetic look at women and men, our gender roles, what we’re valued for, what we’ve been told is our value in every movie, TV show, every corner of culture. Men have been told they’re worth the size of their bank accounts. Women have been told they’re worth the symmetry of their faces, their bodies, their beauty and that’s what this film is based on. The rules of the club are the rules of the world.”
It is expected that Hustlers will get to theaters on September 13.
