LOGAN Director James Mangold is Still Interested in Making an X-23 Movie

After Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine film, Logan, was released in theaters, I was hoping that we would see a spinoff film that focused on the young Laura Kinney a.k.a. X-23. Logan was an incredible film and the way X-23 was utilized in that story was perfect.

Well, now that Disney owns the rights to these characters, the chance of seeing a continuation of the story of that version of X-23 is very low. But, director James Mangold is still very much interested in making that movie!

During a recent interview, the director spoke with The Playlist about his desire to direct a movie about X-23, and when asked about it, he said, "Do I have an interest? Yes." But, he doesn’t think it’ll happen anytime soon. He goes on to say, "Will it happen? At least in the near future, I doubt it."

At this point, I doubt it will happen at all, especially with those films not being a part of the MCU. Then, of course, there’s the fact that the talented young actress who played X-23, Dafne Keen, isn’t going to be young forever. But, I guess the story could pick up with with her at an older age.

Regardless, I seriously doubt we’ll ever see this version of X-23 on the big screen again. It’d be nice if Mangold got to make the spinoff! But, that ship has sailed.
