LOGAN Director James Mangold Shares His Thoughts on Hugh Jackman's Return to Wolverine in DEADPOOL 3

While the fans have been epically freaking out over the unbelievable news that Hugh Jackman is reprising his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, some people have been wondering what The Wolverine and Logan director James Mangold thinks.

After Logan was released, both Jackman and Patrick Stewart announced their retirements from their X-Men characters, but that didn’t last very long. Kevin Feige came knocking and pulled them out of retirement. We’ve already seen Stewart as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and now we're just waiting to see what’s in store for Jackman’s Wolverine!

After sharing a few jokingly angry responses on Twitter to the news, Mangold then endorsed Jackman’s decision to return to the role saying: “Oh my gosh! Everybody chill. Just kidding! I’m all good! LOGAN will always be there. Multiverse or prequel, time warp or worm hole, canon or non-canon or even without a rationale, I cannot wait to see what maddness my dear friends @VancityReynolds and @RealHughJackman cook up!”

That comment also came with an image from the Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte film 48 Hours, hinting at the kind of story that we might see in Deadpool 3.

Deadpool 3 is being directed by Shawn Levy, and the script for the film is coming from Bob's Burgers' Wendy Molyneaux and Lizzie Molyneaux-Loeglin, with Deadpool and Deadpool 2 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick also working on it.

Ryan Reynolds did previously share some information regarding a Deadpool and Wolverine plot that was being planned before Disney bought Fox. It “was gonna be a road trip between Deadpool and Logan. Rashomon style. For real.” There’s no word on if this plot will be used in this film.

Deadpool 3 will be released on September 6th, 2024!
