Nickelodeon is developing a new Star Trek animated series for kids that is titled Star Trek: Prodigy. The logo for the series has been revealed, and it’s set to premiere in 2021.

The series comes from Trollhunters scribes Kevin and Dan Hageman and is being overseen by Nick’s Animation Production and Development EVP Ramsey Naito.

The series will follow “a group of rebellious teens who commandeer an old Starfleet ship and head off into the universe for adventure and more.”

I like the fact that they are creating some Star Trek content for kids. It’s a great way to introduce younger audiences to the franchise and get them hooked on the franchise at a young age.

Prodigy comes from CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Television Studios’ new animation arm, plus Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin will serve as executive producers with Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth and the Hageman Brothers.
