Loki Finds Out Ruling Asgard Isn't as Great as He Thought It Would Be in THOR: RAGNAROK

As you all know, at the end of Thor: The Dark World, Loki was sitting on the throne ruling over Asgard disguised as Odin. He finally got what he wanted, but the God of Mischief didn't realize all the hard work that went into protecting Asgard and he finds himself way over his head!

Thanks to producer Brad Winderbaum, we have some new details about Loki's time on the throne and how he was happy at first but was also completely unprepared for the duties that came along with being king. When talking about where we find Loki in Thor: Ragnarok, he says:

"He becomes the King of Asgard, everything is great, it's a good party, but he failed to realize the threats that were just over the horizon, Hela being the biggest and most terrible one of all."

Winderbaum went on to talk about all the Odin and how he was doing far more than it seemed to keep the universe safe:

"What Thor comes to learn early on is that there's a lot of terrible things in the cosmos that just shouldn't be that way. And we learn that Odin was doing far more than it seemed on the surface to keep the universe safe. That there were all these threats that he had quelled or was keeping at bay, using his strength and power to do so, that Loki was completely unaware, unprepared for."

This all leads to Loki teaming up with Thor to fight Hela and go find Odin on Earth and bring him back to Asgard. It's also explained that Thor has moved on from hating Loki.

"The opposite of love is not hate but indifference. So the idea that Thor might be indifferent to Loki is troubling for him, because that's a defining feature of his character is, I don't belong in the family; my brother doesn't love me; I hate my brother. And the idea his brother's like, yeah, whatever, it's an interesting development."

There are a lot of interesting story dynamics and plot elements to play with here that will make for an interesting movie! I can't wait to see it! Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3rd.
