LOKI Season 1 Director Kate Herron Will Not Be Coming Back for Season 2
The first season of Loki set up quite the predicament in the MCU and from here on out, things are going to be pretty wild as the multiverse has been smashed open. It was revealed at the end of the first season that we will be getting a Season 2, but Season 1 director Kate Herron, who was a major creative force behind the project, says she will not return for the second season.
She confirmed the news herself in an interview with Deadline saying, “I’m not returning. I always planned to be just on for this, and to be honest, Season 2 wasn’t in the — that’s something that just came out, and I’m so excited. I’m really happy to watch it as a fan next season, but I just think I’m proud of what we did here and I’ve given it my all. I’m working on some other stuff yet to be announced.”
So, she wasn’t even aware that a second season was coming when she made the series and she pretty much just moved on to the next project. When asked if she would be involved with another Marvel movie she said, “No, I’m just focused on my own stuff at the moment. I love Marvel and I’d love to work with them again, but my outing with Loki is what I’ve done with them.”
There are currently no details to share for Season 2, but I imagine it will come in a couple of years after several Marvel movies and other Marvel shows make their debuts.
It’s going to be interesting to see where the second season picks up after the madness of what’s to come in films such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Ant-Man: Quatumania.
