LOKI Series Showrunner Is Working on the Script for DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS
While Marvel Studios is in negotiations with Sam Raimi to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, THR is reporting that the showrunner of Marvel’s upcoming Loki series, Michael Waldron, has been brought in to work on the script for the film.
The previous script for the film was written by Jade Bartlett (The Accountant). After Scott Derrickson dropped out as the director, it makes sense that Marvel would want to bring in another writer to help develop the script and take the story in a direction that the studio and new director want to take it.
The project was initially billed by Marvel as its first horror-centric movie. It seems Derrickson wanted to lean into the horror aspect of the story more than Marvel was comfortable with, and that is one of the main friction points between the two.
It sucks that Derrickson and Marvel couldn’t come to a compromise, but if Raimi actually comes on board to direct, it might make the whole thing worth it. I really want to see Raimi direct this movie!
Before jumping onto Loki, Waldron was a writer and producer on Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty.
