Marvel’s Loki series certainly has played around with some fun, crazy, and weird ideas. One of the ideas incorporated in the series was an unconventional love story. If you haven’t seen the last episode yet, you might want to skip this. If you have watched the episode read away!

In the last episode, it was revealed that Tom Hiddelston’s Loki has fallen in love with the female variant version of himself. It kind of reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry falls for a girl who is exactly like him. In case you need a reminder:

During a recent interview with Marvel, head writer Michael Waldron talked about this aspect of Loki’s story and explains:

"We went back and forth for a little bit about, like do we really want to have this guy fall in love with another version of himself? Is that too crazy? But in a series that, to me, is ultimately about self-love, self-reflection, and forgiving yourself, it just felt right that that would be Loki's first real love story."

Director Kate Herron also reveals that the Loki and Sylvie relationship was leaned on even more after production was forced to shut down last year:

"As we were cutting it together in the studio, everyone was, ‘Oh, this [relationship] is really cool. Let's dig into that more. When we went back to filming, we added or tweaked scripts basically to [emphasize it]."

It’s going to be interesting to see how the relationship between Loki and Sylvie plays out over the next couple of episodes. Will they actually end up together or is there something else in store for them? We’ll find out soon enough. In the meantime, what do you think of this little Loki love story, and how do you think it’ll play out?
