LORE OLYMPUS Wins An Eisner Award In First For WEBTOON Platform
Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe took the world by storm when it first launched in 2018 on the WEBTOON platform. Since then it has attracted 1.2 billion global views and 5.8 million subscribers as well as a multi book deal and an animated series in development. The awards world has taken notice and Smythe won an Eisner for Best Webcomic for the 2022 Eisner Awards. This is a huge win for the WEBTOON community of creators and readers with this being the first Eisner for the platform. Hopefully this can help shine a light on some other comics on the platform because there are some truly great creators who also deserve recognition.
If you haven’t read Lore Olympus, it is a modern retelling of the relationship between Hades and Persephone. It has a really beautiful art style and Smythe does a good job weaving elements of modern life with ancient Greek life. Every bit of praise for the comic has been earned, so if you enjoy romantic drama and mythology I really can’t recommend it enough. Volumes 1 and 2 of the graphic novel are available in stores now and you can find the whole comic on WEBTOON.
