LOST and JACK RYAN Creator Carlton Cuse Hired to Write New STAR WARS Series for Lucasfilm

Lucasfilm is developing another Star Wars series for Disney+ and accordig to The InSneider, longtime TV veteran Carlton Cuse and his son Nick Cuse have officially signed on to write the project.

No plot details have been revealed yet, and Lucasfilm is keeping the project tightly under wraps for now. But given the creative pedigree here, there’s good reason to be excited.

Carlton Cuse is no stranger to genre storytelling. He was the showrunner on classic sci-fi series Lost which he ran alongside Damon Lindelof. He also co-created Jack Ryan for Prime Video, and has a lengthy résumé that includes Bates Motel, The Strain, Colony, Locke & Key, and the criminally underrated Five Days at Memorial.

Nick Cuse, on the other hand, has been steadily building his own track record. He’s written for high-concept series like The Leftovers, Maniac, Watchmen, Calls, and Station Eleven. He also co-wrote the satirical thriller The Hunt with director Craig Zobel.

This will be the first time Carlton and Nick have ever collaborated on a project together. This Cuse family Star Wars series joins a growing lineup of upcoming projects from Lucasfilm.

While we wait to learn what galaxy-spanning corner they’re tackling, we’re about to get a lot more Andor. Season 2 of Tony Gilroy’s critically acclaimed series drops April 22, 2025.

Looking further ahead, The Mandalorian & Grogu is set for May 22, 2026, and now there’s confirmation that Shawn Levy’s mysterious Star Wars project,Star Wars: Starfighter, which stars Ryan Gosling, is scheduled for May 28, 2027.

It’ll be interesting to see what this new project ends up being.
