Luc Besson Has Already Written VALERIAN 2 and is Currently Working on VALERIAN 3

I'm pretty stoked about seeing Luc Besson's Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. The movie looks so freakin' awesome, especially with those stunning visuals. I just hope that the story and script are just as strong.

Besson has big plans for the franchise so hopefully, it succeeds! During a recent interview with Nerdist, the filmmaker revealed that he's already completed his script for Valerion 2 and he's already working on the script for Valerion 3! The guy is non-stop working machine and he's obviously excited about the future of the franchise and the story he wants to tell. He said:

“I finished the number 2 already and I’m writing the number 3. I don’t know if we will do it, because it’s not up to me. It’s up to the audience if they like it. But my friends all said, ‘Why are you writing the second one? You don’t even know if you’re going to do it.’ [And I said] ‘I don’t care. It’s fine. [laughs] I’m just happy to write it. I’m enjoying writing it. I don’t even wait. I’m just writing for myself. So I finished the [sequel] already, and I got bored a month ago, so I said, ‘Let’s write the third.'”

The guy loves his work and there's nothing wrong with writing a couple of sequels to an epic film just because it makes him happy! I would really love for this first movie to succeed so that Besson can share his whole vision with a couple more movies. There's a lot of money that went into this film, so if it bombs, we may never see Besson make an epic sci-fi film like this again, which would be a shame.

Valerian opens up in theaters this weekend. Are you planning on seeing it?
