Lucasfilm has added a new cast member to its upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi. PEN15 star and co-creator Maya Erskine is the latest addition, and she will have a supporting role in at least three episodes. We just don’t know who she’ll be playing.

Erskine joins the previously cast Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan, Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader, Joel EdgertonBonnie PiesseMoses IngramKumail NanjianiIndira VarmaRupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr.Sung KangSimone Kessell, and Benny Safdie

The story begins 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

I’m very curious to see the story that this series will tell. I just hope that it’s the same quality of storytelling that we are seeing in The Mandalorian. That show set a high standard, and I would love to see all of these upcoming Star Wars shows reach that standard.

Deborah Chow (Better Call Saul, American Gods, The Mandalorian) will direct the series as well as serve as showrunner, with Hossein Amini (Drive, McMafia) and Joby Harold (John Wick 3, Awake, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) writing.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Chow, McGregor, and Harold. The series will be shot using the same stagecraft technology that the filmmakers on The Mandalorian have utilized.
