Lucasfilm Casts SQUID GAME Star Lee Jung-jae in the STAR WARS Series THE ACOLYTE

Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae is jumping into the Star Wars universe as Lucasfilm has just cast him as the male lead in the upcoming Disney+ series The Acolyte.

There are no details on who he’s playing, but he will join the previously cast Amandla Steinberg and Jodie Turner-Smith. We have no idea who they’re playing either.

The series is being developed by Leslye Headland who serves as director, writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Headland has been working very closely with Lucasfilm executive including President Kathleen Kennedy on this project making sure they bring in a diverse, A-list ensemble cast.

The series is described as “a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.” The High Republic is set 200 years before the Skywalker Saga begins.

This era has only been explored in a series of books and comics so far. It is the golden age of the Jedi, when the Jedi were at their strongest and the Sith were believed to have been eradicated from the galaxy. The term “acolyte” refers to individuals with Force abilities who learn from a more experienced Sith Lord.

It was also previously explained that the show “specifically explores the rise of the Dark Side in those final days of the High Republic era.” The series is also said to explore some major Sith characters from Star Wars Legends, which I hope turns out to be true.
