Lucasfilm Has Hired a Showrunner For Their Cassian Andor STAR WARS Series
A few weeks ago we learned that Lucasfilm and Disney were developing a second live-action Star Wars series. This series does not have a title yet, but it will focus on the Rogue One character Cassian Andor and Diego Luna is returning to reprise his role.
While the project originated from Jared Bush (Moana), who is writing the script for the pilot and creating the series bible, Lucasfilm needs a showrunner to develop the series and lead the production.
That job has gone to Stephen Schiff, who was a writer and executive producer on the hit FX series The Americans, which recently came to a close. I loved The Americans and the fact that Lucasfilm has brought in a driving force behind that show to work on this Cassian Andor series is great!
The series is said to follow “the adventures of rebel spy Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One.” When previously talking about the series, Luna said:
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
One thing that I’m really hoping for is that the droid K-2SO will be a part of the story and that Alan Tudyk will be reprising his role. We’ll just have to wait and see, though.
Do you think Cassian Andor is an interesting enough character to carry a Star Wars series on his own? What are you hoping to see from it?
