Lucasfilm Is Developing a Martial Arts STAR WARS Series for Disney+

Lucasfilm is currently developing a new live-action Star Wars series for Disney+. The project is said to tell a story that revolves around a female character, and it will be written by Lesley Headland, the co-creator of Netflix’s dramedy series Russian Doll. She will also act as showrunner on the new series.

There are no details on the plot to share, but it’s being reported that it will be an “action thriller with martial arts elements and set in an alternate timeline from the usual Star Wars universe.”

A martial arts Star Wars series!? Hell yeah! I’m up for that! While the Star Wars franchise was inspired by classic martial arts films, it wasn’t until Donnie Yen came along and played Chirrut Îmwe in Rogue One that we got to see some badass martial arts fight scenes in the franchise.

This will be the fourth live-action Star Wars series that’s been announced. The other shows include The Mandalorian, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and the one that revolves around Cassian Andor.

While we don’t have much to go off of right now, what do you think about seeing a Star Wars martial arts action-thriller?
