Lucasfilm is Reportedly Casting Grand Admiral Thrawn For New Live-Action STAR WARS Series
A few days ago it was reported that Lucasfilm might be developing a series focusing on fan-favorite Star Wars villain Grand Admiral Thrawn. I assumed at the time that the character would most likely be introduced in another live-action Star Wars series like The Mandalorian before he gets his own series.
According to entertainment scooper Daniel Ritchman (via TheDisinsider), Disney and Lucasfilm are now in the process of casting an actor to take on the live-action version of the character. With The Clone Wars and Rebels characters such as Ahsoka Tano, Bo-Katan, Captain Rex (Rumored), and Ezra Bridger (Rumored), making their live-action debuts it makes sense for Grand Admiral Thrawn to show up at some point.
Grand Admiral Thrawn was created by Timothy Zahn and made his debut in the Star Wars novel Heir to the Empire. He’s a member of the Chiss race, and is an Imperial military commander who took control of the Galactic Empire five years after the events of Return of the Jedi.
The character was pulled out of the extended universe and brought into the animated series Star Wars Rebels where he made his debut in Season 3. He was voiced by Lars Mikkelsen. He was also explored in two additional recent Thrawn novels that Zahn wrote as well as a comic series.
There’s no word on where the character will make his big debut, but it could happen in The Mandalorian Season 3, the Rogue One prequel series, or the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
Where do you think the best place for Thrawn to show up should be and how would you like to see the character utilized?
