Earlier this month, Lucasfilm launched its Star Wars: The High Republic publishing initiative. The stories in this project are set centuries before the events of the Star Wars prequel trilogy before the Skywalker saga begins. This was a golden time of the Jedi Knights.

In an effort to support these stories and the books that are being released, Lucasfilm launched a series of animated shorts to help people get to know the characters that are being introduced in The High Republic.

The animated series is titled Characters of Star Wars: The High Republic, and it features “colorful animation and vibrant narration.” It‘s explained that each episode will focus on one character and their journey leading up to the events that kick off The High Republic.

Matt Martin of the Lucasfilm Story Group told StarWars.com:

"The High Republic is a unique and fresh era of Star Wars storytelling with all new characters and a unique visual aesthetic, so we couldn't help but want to see our new heroes and villains jump out of the page and into animation. We were trying to find a look for these videos that could appeal to a broad range of fans, from kids to adults, and I think what Eastham Studios came up with is really special."

You can watch the first installment of the series below, which focuses on a young Jedi Vernestra Rwoh.
