Lucasfilm Reportedly Developing a STRANGER THINGS Inspired Live-Action STAR WARS: THE HIGH REPUBLIC Series

A new report has surfaced that is saying Lucasfilm is developing a live-action Star Wars series that is set during The High Republic era. This era is set 200 years prior to the events of the prequel trilogy and has been the subject of several books and comics.

This new series is said to be geared for kids and Cinelinx shared that several sources refer to the show as “Stranger Things in space.” It’s said the Disney+ show would feature actors ranging from pre-teens to teenagers. The report claims that one of the authors of The High Republic book series, Charles Soule, Justina Ireland, Daniel Jose Older, Claudia Gray, or Cavan Scott, will assist with writing the story for the show.

It makes sense that Lucasfilm would want to play in this High Republic era in a series. The only one in development right now is The Acolyte, but that takes place near the end of the era. This new show sounds like it will be set in midst of the golden age of the Jedi.

There’s no word on if the show will adapt one of the stories that have already been presented in any of The High Republic publications, or if it will feature any characters that have already been introduced in them. It could very well be something completely new and different.

While the series is said to be developed for kids, obviously, the creative team is going to make something that adult fans will enjoy as well, the same way that adults enjoy watching Stranger Things.

It’ll be interesting to see what this actually ends up being!
