Lucasfilm Will Reportedly Stick with Veteran Filmmakers and are Done Experimenting With "New or Unusual" Directors
Yesterday a rumor was reported that Lucasfilm would be putting a hold on their A Star Wars Story films. Now we've got another interesting bit of news that some of you might like to hear. According to Star Wars News Net, Disney and Lucasfilm might be done hiring "new or unusual" directors that don't have a lot of experience with working on films of this massive scale. They say:
"Disney is done experimenting with new or unusual filmmakers and will go back to proven veteran talent who they know can handle a big budget Star Wars production in an effort to prevent future production chaos, drama, and firings."
That seems like a move in the right direction, especially with all of the behind the scenes drama that the Star Wars productions have found themselves in with some of the filmmakers they've brought on like Josh Trank, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and even Gareth Edwards.
When a veteran director like Ron Howard came in to take over the directing duties for Solo: A Star Wars Story, things went so much more smoothly, and the film ended up being fantastic! Instead of ditching the A Star Wars Story films, maybe they should just hire solid directors from the beginning like they did with James Mangold for Boba Fett.
What do you think about Lucasfilm putting the focus on hiring veteran directors to work on their films from here on out?
