Lucasfilm's Cassian Andor STAR WARS Series Will Start Production in October
A couple months ago, Lucasfilm announced that they were developing a new live-action Star Wars series that would focus on the Rogue One character Cassian Andor. Diego Luna is set to reprise his role, and now we’ve learned from Production Weekly that the series will head into production in October of 2019, which means that it will most likely premiere on Disney+ in 2020.
The series is described thusly, "The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire. A release date for the series has not yet been announced."
When previously talking about the series, Luna said:
"Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply."
The new Star Wars series originated from Jared Bush (Moana), who is also writing the script for the pilot and creating the series bible. Stephen Schiff, who recently finished the hit FX spy series The Americans, will serve as showrunner of the series.
There’s still so much we don’t know about the series, but the questions we have will eventually be answered. Stay tuned for more details.
Did you like the character Cassian Andor, and are you happy to see that he’s getting his own series? I just hope that Alan Tudyk will reprise his role as the droid K-2SO.
