Lucasfilm's New Anime-Style STAR WARS RESISTANCE Series Sounds Awesome! Here are the Details!
Lucasfilm has announced their new Star Wars animated series! It will be called Star Wars Resistance and it sounds like it has the makings of another great series for fans to enjoy!
The new show revolves around a character named Kazuda Xiono, "a young pilot recruited by the Resistance whose mission is to spy on the growing threat of the First Order."
You'll also be happy to hear that Oscar Isaac will reprise his role as Poe Dameron and Gwendoline Christie will be back as Captain Phasma! The series will also include BB-8 and introduce several new characters.
Lucasfilm Animation veteran Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) created the series. Several other producers of those previous series will join him as producers including Athena Portillo, Justin Ridge and Brandon Auman. When talking about the inspiration behind the series, Filoni said:
"The idea for Star Wars Resistance came out of my interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots. My grandfather was a pilot and my uncle flew and restored planes, so that's been a big influence on me. There's a long history of high-speed racing in Star Wars, and I think we've captured that sense of excitement in an anime-inspired style, which is something the entire team has been wanting to do for a long time."
I love the idea of an anime-insired style Star Wars series! The rest of the voice cast includes Christopher Sean (Days of Our Lives), Suzie McGrath (East Enders), Scott Lawrence (Legion), Myrna Velasco (Elena of Avalor), Josh Brener (Silicon Valley), Donald Faison (Scrubs), Bobby Moynihan (DuckTales), Jim Rash (Community) and Rachel Butera (Tammy's Tiny Tea Time).
There's no premiere date yet, but it's certainly exciting news! I can't wait to see how it turns out!
