Lucy Liu Will Direct The Premiere of Marvel's LUKE CAGE Season 2
Last month, Lucy Liu was spotted on the set of Marvel's The Defenders and a lot of fans began to speculate why she was be hanging around there. A photo was then posted on Instagram featuring Liu hanging out with Luke Cage actor Mike Colter. We now know why. Lucy Liu is set to direct the season premiere of Luke Cage Season 2! Lui had this to say in a statement:
“What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters. It is such an honor to work with such a passionate and fearless team.”
Series producer and head of Marvel TV, Jeph Loeb, added:
“When you’re dealing with a bulletproof man, it helps if you have a bulletproof director. Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors. She is rocking Luke Cage 2.”
I'm a fan of Liu and it's pretty rad to see her jumping on board to direct Luke Cage. I can't help but think this will lead to other directing gigs for Marvel and other high profile shows. She's been honing her directing skills on her series Elementary, where she has directed four episodes.
I loved the first season of Luke Cage and I'm excited to see where this next chapter in his story takes him.
