LUKE CAGE Season 2 to Include Nighthawk and Bushmaster
Marvel has just announced two new roles in the Luke Cage Netflix Series. Moreover, they are they got a couple of solid actors to play them.
Mustafa Shakir (The Night Of) has been cast as Bushmaster aka John McIver. He is described as "a natural leader, brimming with charisma, whose mission is focused on Harlem and vengeance." The other role Nighthawk, will be played by Gabrielle Dennis (Rosewood).
Tilda Johnson a.k.a. Nighthawk a.k.a. Nightshade is described as "a brilliant holistic doctor with a complicated history in Harlem where, as much as she tries to say far from trouble, it seems to always find her."
This is very interesting, especially considering Marvel's Black Panther movie also has Tilda Johnson in it and they have a different actress playing her. That actress is Nabiyah Be. Two different actresses playing the same role in the same universe? This, in a way, makes a small divide between the two universes. We'll see if they decide to say they are two separate entities or something else entirely.
When talking about bringing these two characters into the series, showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker said:
"I can't wait for audiences to see the compelling paces we put both Mustafa and Gabrielle through. From the moment you see each of them on screen, I feel they will be powerful additions to the world of Marvel and Harlem's Luke Cage.
Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb added:
“Mustafa's incredible presence and power ignited us from our first meeting, and Gabrielle brings the charm and smarts to a very complicated role. Both will be wonderful additions to our already magnificent cast."
Shakir and Dennis will join returning cast members Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Theo Rossi as Shades.
