Lydia Wilson Beams Up To STAR TREK BEYOND
Beam her up, Scotty.
Variety reports that Lydia Wilson, who you may recognize from the excellent time travel romance About Time, the underseen sci-fi film Never Let Me Go, or British shows like Misfits and Ripper Street, has joined the cast of Justin Lin's Star Trek Beyond.
Details about her role are still being kept secretive — not a surprise, considering how we still don't know that much about the film overall — but if the script by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung retains characters from its earlier drafts, it seems likely Wilson is playing one of three female roles: a Federation captain that's a match for Chris Pine's Captain Kirk, the president of the entire United Federation of Planets, or the wife Karl Urban's Bones. Unless the president is a young woman, I'm guessing she'll be portraying one of the other two options here.
Star Trek Beyond is set for release on July 8th, 2016.
