Macaulay Culkin Returns to the HOME ALONE House and Reunites With Old Man Marley's Granddaughter in Fun New Ad

Macaulay Culkin has returned to the house that made him a star in the 1990 film Home Alone. Culkin is embracing nostalgia as the character Kevin McCallister just in time for the holiday classic's 35th anniversary.

As part of a Home Instead ad campaign, the actor reprised his role as the movie's scheming protagonist, now all grown up. But instead of defending his house against a pair of nefarious burglars, Kevin has a new mission, and that’s protecting his aging mother from everyday dangers.

The "Home But Not Alone" ad spot from the company Home Instead begins with Kevin laying out "Mom's safety plan," which involves bubble wrapping the house, pouring salt on the icy steps, eliminating fire hazards, and nailing the carpet to the floor.

In a phone call with one of his many siblings, he says, "I'm just worried about Mom being by herself, y'know? What if she falls down or gets snowed in? They never did catch that South Bay Shovel Slayer."

In the movie, Kevin comes to realize that his neighbor, Old Man Marley, who was rumored to be the shovel slayer, is harmless and kind, and he even ends up being his rescuer.

In the ad, as Kevin mentions the South Bay Shovel Slayer, he hears the familiar scrape of the shovel that scared him as a kid. It turns out to be Old Man Marley's granddaughter clearing the sidewalk.

Following in her grandad's footsteps, she sets the shovel aside to give Kevin some much-needed advice about how to talk to his mom about more security and assistance in her old age.

It’s a nostalgic nod to a character and movie we all love, and it’s fun to see Culkin revisit his Home Alone roots again. Check it out below:
