MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Composer Junkie XL To Score Peter Jackson's MORTAL ENGINES
The Peter Jackson-produced fantasy adventure film Mortal Engines will be composed by Junkie XL a.k.a. Tom Holkenborg. He announced the news himself on Twitter and you can read those tweets below.
Junkie XL has worked on a lot of big movies in his career that include Mad Max: Fury Road, Deadpool, Tomb Raider, Batman v Superman, and The Dark Tower. I really dig his style and it is sure to fit perfectly with this crazy looking Mortal Engines film. I'm actually pretty excited about seeing this movie!
Friends, I'm proud to announce that I am working on the original score to the upcoming film @Mortal_Engines, produced by Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh (Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, King Kong) and directed by Christian Rivers. https://t.co/Jj9EkjY2hx

I am extraordinarily grateful to Peter, Fran and Christian for this opportunity and their friendship. Scoring Mortal Engines pushed me to my limits, it’s an incredible project to be part of. The film comes out Friday, December 14. Hope you can enjoy it in theaters!

The film comes from director Christian Rivers from a script co-written by Jackson and Philippa Boyens. The movie is based on the British series of novels by Philip Reeve and this is the synopsis:
Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.
The cast for the film includes Hugo Weaving (The Lord of Rings), Hera Hilmar (Da Vinci’s Demons), Robbie Sheehan (Geostorm), South Korean singer and actress Jihae(Mars), Ronan Raftery (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Leila George (Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?), Patrick Malahide (Game of Thrones) and Stephen Lang (Avatar).
Mortal Engines will hit theaters on December 14th. Here's the trailer for the film that gives you a taste of what Junkie XL has done for the film.
