MADAME WEB Set Photos Surface Showing a Character That Might Be a Spider-Man Variant
Below you’ll find a couple of photos from the set of Sony’s Marvel film Madame Web. These photos feature Dakota Johnson and a mysterious new character that looks like a Spider-Man variant. But, I don’t know because I’m not seeing any kind of Spider-Man logo, so could this be a villain of sorts? Check out the photos below and let me know what you think!
The film is said to be an origin story for Madame Web, “a clairvoyant whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world itself.” In the comics, Madame Web is an elderly blind woman named Cassandra Webb. who is “suffering from a chronic neuromuscular disease that makes it difficult to move and breathe, and as such, she’s connected to a life support system that looks like a spider web. The clairvoyant character has precognitive abilities and once helped Spider-Man find a kidnap victim.”
But there’s also another younger version of the character named Julia Carpenter, who gains precognition powers after Cassandra is killed. This is the version of the character that Johnson will play, and the actress is looking to do some of her own stunts.
S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones and The Defenders) is directing the movie from a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
The movie also stars Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Zosia Mamet, and Adam Scott.
Madame Web is set for release in theaters on October 6, 2023.
