Mads Mikkelsen Expresses Interest In Playing Doctor Doom in Noah Hawley's DOCTOR DOOM Film
This... This needs to happen. Mads Mikkelsen is an incredible actor and I've loved the acting work that he's done. I wish he would have been given a better character to play in Doctor Strange, but there is a greater Marvel character that I always wished he would play. That character is Doctor Doom, and it looks like he would be interested in that as well.
Mads Mikkelsen was recently asked about his thoughts on the new Doctor Doom solo movie currently being developed by Noah Hawley, and he had nothing but good things to say.
"Yeah, it’s always interesting. They are experimenting with doing some of the villain’s stories as well. Let’s see if they do that. I’m not familiar that they’ve done it with anyone yet. They haven’t done it with The Joker [and] they haven’t done it with The Penguin. So we’ll see when that day comes."
He continued talking about how he'd like to see it done, which is exactly what my thoughts have always been on the character as well:
"Well, I hope that all characters have a little more rounded shape in the sense that they have two sides of the coin. Yes, they are villains. Hannibal is a baddie – but at the same time, we kind of like him. I think all characters – goodies or baddies, should have a little of both and I think that every actor looks for that in a character."
If Mads Mikkelsen is chosen to play Doctor Doom, I'll take back any of the bad things I've said about Fox being stupid for not giving Fantastic Four back to Marvel. This is everything I've ever wanted. Mikkelsen playing Hannibal was brilliant, and as I watched it, all I could think was, wow, Mads would be the best Doom. He understands the fine balance of being evil and enjoyable. One that would have been much appreciated in the last F4 movie.
Mikkelsen did, in fact, audition for Josh Trank's Fantastic Four movie... Sort of. He was asked to stretch his arms out and that was it. Then he left. It did not really sit well for him, which makes me so happy that he still has a desire to be involved in a project like this even after such a crappy experience with the last one.
If there is one person who I think could capture the greatness of a villain in a solo movie, it would be Mads. He gets it. I hope Noah Hawley keeps him in mind for it. I just so badly want him to play Doom. It just makes sense to me.
