Mads Mikkelsen Plays Danish Explorer in Trailer for Historical Epic Drama THE PROMISED LAND
TrustNordisk has released the first trailer and poster for the upcoming historical epic drama The Promised Land. The film stars Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny) as Danish Explorer Ludvig Kahlen, “who set out to conquer the harsh, uninhabitable Danish heath with a seemingly impossible goal; to build a colony in the name of the King.”
This is a true story that is described as “a gripping story about the conquest of the heath, the tale of a proud and uncompromising man, and the woman who becomes his ally in the fight against evil, death and perdition.”
Mikkelsen is such a talented actor, and this looks like a very interesting role for him to take on. I have no doubt he’ll deliver a great performance. This a a movie I definitely want to check out!
Mikkelsen stars opposite Amanda Collin (Raised by Wolves), Magnus Krepper (Queen of Hearts), Simon Bennebjerg (Borgen), Gustav Lindh (The Northman), Kristine Kujath Thorp (Ninjababy), Morten Hee Andersen (Margrete: Queen of the North), Jacob Lohmann (Riders Of Justice), and Felix Kramer (Dark).
The movie comes from director Nikolaj Arcel from a script he wrote with Anders Thomas Jensen (Riders of Justice). It’s based on the 2020 Danish bestseller Kaptajnen og Ann Barbara translated as The Captain and Ann Barbara. The movie is slated to world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
