MAGIC: THE GATHERING Is Boldly Going to STAR TREK in 2026 and So Much More
Wizards of the Coast just pulled back the curtain at MagicCon Atlanta, and Magic: The Gathering fans are in for an epic ride over the next year. With the massive success of Final Fantasy earlier this year, it’s clear that Universes Beyond sets are going all in.
In fact, they’re expanding into new territory, including a crossover with Star Trek that’s set to launch in 2026.
That’s right, Magic is officially engaging warp speed into the final frontier. But that’s not the only thing on the horizon. Wizards revealed a full slate of seven sets coming in 2026, blending both Universes Beyond collaborations and traditional Magic worlds. Here’s a breakdown of everything on the roadmap.
Lorwyn Eclipsed - January 2026
For the first time since 2008, players will return to the Celtic-inspired world of Lorwyn. This set ties into Strixhaven, with students venturing into the strange wilderness in search of magic and danger.
Secret Universes Beyond Set - March 2026
Wizards is keeping this one close to the chest, but fans won’t have to wait long. Details will drop during New York Comic Con, running October 9–12.
Secrets of Strixhaven - April 2026
The school year continues with a follow-up to Lorwyn Eclipsed. Characters return to Arcavios after their adventures, but things won’t stay contained within Strixhaven Academy. This set will expand the world beyond the lecture halls, diving deeper into Arcavios itself.
Marvel Super Heroes - June 2026
Fresh off the Spider-Man release, Magic will go all in with Marvel’s wider universe. Legendary heroes and villains like the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the Heroes for Hire, and yes, even Squirrel Girl, will be making their way to the table.
The Hobbit - August 2026
After the huge success of Tales of Middle-earth, Magic is returning to Tolkien’s world. This time, the focus shifts to Bilbo Baggins and Thorin Oakenshield’s journey to the Lonely Mountain and their fateful encounter with Smaug.
Reality Fracture - October 2026
Wizards is being mysterious here, but this set will tie together story threads from Lorwyn Eclipsed and Secrets of Strixhaven. Legendary planeswalker Jace Beleren will play a key role as he explores realms of existence after the events of Tarkir: Dragonstorm.
Star Trek - November 2026
This is the big one. As Star Trek celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026, it’s beaming into Magic with its very own set. After dabbling in Trek-style sci-fi with Edge of Eternities, Wizards is going all in.
“Engage!” teased the announcement. Early previews already showed off both classic Star Trek and The Next Generation. Wizards also promised representation across the franchise, though it remains to be seen how evenly that balance will play out.
It’s shaping up to be a massive year for Magic: The Gathering, with Universes Beyond pulling in some of the biggest franchises in geekdom. Whether you’re a planeswalker, a Trekkie, a Tolkien fan, or a Marvel diehard, 2026 is set to have something for everyone.
