MAGIC: THE GATHERING Starts New Promo in Effort to Help Local Game Stores

The team over at Magic: The Gathering is trying to find ways to help support local game stores since many have had to close their doors in the wake of COVID-19. The team recently announced a special Buy-a-Box pre-order promotion for the upcoming Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths set called “Be Your Store’s Champion.”

“Be Your Store’s Champion” is a way for fans to still pre-order their booster boxes from their local game stores and gain additional rewards in Magic: The Gathering Arena. Here’s how it works:

• Players are encouraged to connect with their Local Game Store and confirm they are accepting pre-orders, receive your code, and that they can either ship your order or offer curbside pickup

• In addition to the standard Buy-a-Box exclusive promo card, players who pre-order Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths will receive a bonus code from their Local Game Store redeemable in MTG Arena for three special perks to show other players that they support their Local Game Stores:

  • A “Be Your Store’s Champion” trophy pet

  • A “Serra the Benevolent” avatar

  • Manavault card sleeves

As an added bonus, each purchase helps fund Mystery Boosters for Wizards of the Coast to send to local game stores for free. Ikoria is currently set to release on May 15.
