MAMMA MIA! Producer Judy Craymer Teases Third Film in the Franchise
So many projects got put on the back burner during the last few months that were meant to have begun or ended production during that time. Many high profile films had theater release dates rescheduled, and shows weren’t able to finish getting made until they could get back to the editing rooms. But some have said this downtime has been a positive thing because it gave them time to work on ideas for new projects.
One lady in the biz that has had a new idea on her mind is Judy Craymer, who produced the film version of the stage musical Mamma Mia!, based on the music of Abba, and produced and originally conceived the sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. In a recent interview with Daily Mail, Craymer talked about the possibility of a third film, saying:
“I think one day there will be another film, because there’s meant to be a trilogy, you see.”
She said she had been meaning to work on the story during the past few months, but was pretty distracted by the current state of affairs with the pandemic, saying she was caught in a “Covid fog.” She added:
“‘I know Universal would like me to do it.’ she added, saying she wanted to use the four new Abba numbers Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus have written for the virtual concert they’ve planned with Agnetha Faltskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.”
I know there is a fanbase for this for sure. I have tons of friends who love these movies, and they always have a great cast, and make good money in the box office. Hopefully Craymer can get into writing the movie, and she and fans can have the Mamma Mia! trilogy of their dreams.
How would you like to see the Mamma Mia! story wrap up?
