MAN OF STEEL Prequel Series KRYPTON Closer To Happening at SyFy

We've been talking about the Man of Steel prequel series Krypton for years now, and it looks like it's finally about to head up, up, and away from development hell and onto our TV screens.

Variety reports that SyFy is "nearing completion of a deal on a pilot order" for the show, which takes place 200 years before the events of Man of Steel and follows Superman's grandfather as he tries to restore honor to the family name after the House of El has been shamed.

The biggest problem I can see here is that this is a David Goyer project. I'm not convinced he's the best person to be bringing these DC projects to life, but he's been part of that roster for so many years with the Batman and Superman movies of the 2000s all the way through Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He's writing the pilot with Ian Goldberg, and Colm McCarthy is slated to direct as soon as they get the official greenlight. Damian Kindler (Stargate SG-1, Sanctuary, Sleepy Hollow) will serve as showrunner.

The show will apparently be the first modern DC series to actually have connections to the DCEU (shows like Arrow and The Flash have their own separate universe). I think it definitely has some potential, and hopefully Goyer is just there to get it off the ground and then he'll move on to other things, sort of like J.J. Abrams' involvement with Lost.
