Man Spends $57,789 In Coronavirus Relief Aid On A Pokémon Card

Sometimes I wonder why we can’t have nice things, and then I read about people like this and am immediately reminded that some people are terrible. A Georgia man lied on his application for federal coronavirus relief aid by making false statements about how many employees he had and how much revenue the company makes. All that, so that he could buy a Pokémon card for $57,789.

Authorities haven’t said which Pokémon card the man bought, but I’m not surprised to hear of such a hefty price tag considering how much some cards will sell for. Stories like this are infuriating. That money obviously wasn’t meant for this schmuck, anyone who can afford that much for one Pokémon card is doing just fine. Also, that is a ton of work and lies in order to obtain one single card which just seems crazy. Why risk jail for a Pokémon card? I know people get crazy about their collections, but this is just over the top. Now that he’s been caught, I wonder if he will think all of this was worth it.
