Mandy Moore's Shark Thriller 47 METERS DOWN is Getting a Sequel Called 48 METERS DOWN

Did any of you get a chance to see Mandy Moore's killer shark film 47 Meters Down? It was ok and had some fun moments, but I never expected it to get a sequel! According to THR, director Johannes Roberts will return to write and direct the film, and it will be called... 48 Meters Down. That one extra meter is sure to take things to a crazy new level! Right!?

The sequel will take place in Brazil, and follow "a group of girls looking for adventure in the coastal metropolis of Recife. Hoping to get off the well-worn tourist trail, they hear about some hidden underwater ruins only to find that the turquoise waves of their secret Atlantis aren’t completely uninhabited."

Producer Jared Harris had this to say about the movie:

“We are so pleased by the huge success of 47 Meters Down, it totally exceeded all expectations. 48 Meters Down will take the claustrophobia of cave diving and the thrill of shark encounters and move everything to the next level.”

I wonder if they will take things in a supernatural direction with the sequel. We'll just have to wait and see. I'll wait for a trailer to be released before I want to decide if I'm going to spend money on seeing it or not.

47 Meters Down was shot on a budget of only $5 million dollars but it made $44 million at the domestic box office, so it had a pretty big return! Are you interested in seeing a sequel?
