Margot Robbie Has Been Pushing To Bring Poison Ivy To The Big Screen

Margot Robbie has obviously been having a blast playing Harley Quinn in the DC films. Not only is she the lead in the upcoming Birds of Prey film, but she will also be appearing in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. After that, who knows what the character’s future holds. DC and WB have been developing a Gotham City Sirens film, but that’s on hold for the moment. I imagine the studio is waiting to see how Birds of Prey does at the box office before moving forward with that movie.

Regardless of what the future holds, there is one popular DC femme fatale that Robbie has been pushing to bring to the big screen. That character is Poison Ivy. In an interview with CBR, Robbie said:

 "I've been pushing a Poison Ivy reunion for a long time...Because obviously Ivy and Harley have such an incredible relationship, so I would love to explore that."

It’s interesting to me that this a character that needs to be pushed for. When it comes to DC female villains, Poison Ivy is super popular with fans. You’d think the studio would want to jump at the chance to utilize her. But, what do I know?! I would love to see the relationship of these two characters explored in a movie, and it seems like Gotham City Sirens would be the film to do that with. We just don’t know if it’s going to happen. Who knows, maybe they’ll end up just getting a film of their own.

It’s going to be really interesting to see what WB does if Birds of Prey ends up bombing at the box office. I imagine they’ll rethink their strategy all over again.
