Margot Robbie Has Joined With 'Shameless' Creator and Writers to Adapt Best-Selling Memoir MAID Into Series for Netflix
Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) has teamed up with John Wells (co-creator of Shameless, writer on ER) and Molly Smith Metzler (Orange is the New Black and Shameless writer) to create a series based on the best-selling memoir Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive. Variety describes the story as one of “a single mother who turns to housekeeping to—barely—make ends meet as she battles against poverty, homelessness, and bureaucracy.”
Robbie will also executive produce the series. Channing Dungey, vice president of original series at Netflix said of the project:
“Maid is a poignant portrait that chronicles Stephanie Land’s strife and victories, and has the power to connect with our members around the world as they identify with her struggles and root for her success. We’re excited to share the stories inspired by Stephanie’s book and bring them to life.”
Robbie is a fantastic actress, and I am excited to see her take on this series. I am also downloading the book ASAP. Does this sound like a good series to you?
